1. The Pier
There’s the usual amusements for the kids and all the kitsch you’d expect from the arcade, but unlike the hectic chaos of Brighton, this art deco pier has been beautifully preserved and still has an air of dignity. Enjoy an afternoon tea or a G&T in the original domed café, gaze at the sea and snooze in a deckchair. Heaven.
2. The Food
We love the Garden Pantry and The Emporium Market for homemade deliciousness and to The Beach House or The Crab Shack for fresh seafood right on the beach.
3. The Culture
Worthing has a growing art and craft scene with creativity to be found on every corner. One of our favourite finds was print maker Hello Dodo – a regular on the town’s Annual Art Trail and, of course, available on Etsy.
4. Vintage shops
Worthing has no shortage of second hand shops and flea markets packed to the brim with treasures that you definitely don’t need but might just like in your home.
An abundance of Edwardian, Victorian and Art Deco buildings line the streets of this historic seaside town. We love the original 1920s clock face still ticking away on the pier.
6. Sport and Leisure
Splash Point is Worthing’s brand new leisure centre where you can swim, spa and work out all with a glorious sea view. If you’re into outdoor activities head to the Baker Academy to book in a kitesurfing lesson with one of their friendly instructors, or hire some gear from their shop and hit the waves.
7. The Dome Tearooms
Loose leaf tea and fish and chip sarnies, served on vintage china, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. It’s the bee’s knees.
8. The Sea
It’s so blue it could almost be Mauritius. Almost.
Worthing has three theatres, The Connaught, The Assembly Hall and The Pavilion, all hosting a range of events from dance and opera to comedy. Then there’s the beautiful Edwardian cinema The Dome, showing all the latest releases.
10. The property
We’ve just acquired a gorgeous Georgian seafront property that we are going to restore and renovate in the coming months to provide a range of beach front apartments. So if our first nine reasons are enough to tempt you to consider a move to Worthing …. get in touch.
